Medical Resources

Medical care will go beyond just their primary care physician (PCP).  Often a loved one with FTD may require additional professionals such as neurologist, psychiatrist, speech pathologist, geriatrician, OT/PT, and more.

As these resources are very regional, it is best to check with your PCP on the specialists that are available in your area.

CAUTION:  As you connect with others in the FTD community, you may hear references to medications to stabilize moods.  Some of these are very appropriate at certain points in the disease, even critical for everyone’s safety and comfort.  DO NOT try any medications without first speaking to your PCP – especially if your loved one has some other underlying medical issues.  Some drugs do not work well with others.
